Fruit Juices to Avoid in South Africa

Some juices contain terrible substances and fake sugar. Others are 100% pure fruit juice and are good for the body.
Let us separate the bad juices from the good.

Avoid these Fruit Juices

The first thing that should stop you buying is that it does not say 100% pure fruit juice. If it does not say that the juice should be avoided. Below are the brands to avoid.

  • Fruitree (Pioneer Foods Group) - Acesulfame K, Sodium saccharin, Sodium Cyclamate and flavouring.

Do not ever purchase or drink Pioneer Foods Group "Fruitree" fruit juice product. It is very dangerous with short term and long term health affects.

Bad Ingredients

  • Acesulfame K - headaches, depression, nausea, mental confusion, liver effects, kidney effects, visual disturbances, and cancer in humans
  • Sucralose - bloating, nausea, wheezing, itchy, runny now, anxiety
  • Aspartame - headaches, dizziness, depression, increased hunger, depressoin
  • Sodium saccharin - bladder cancer, headaches, breathing difficulties, itching, diarrhea
  • Sodium Cyclamate - cancer causing - banned in the USA
  • Neotame

These are fake sugar. They have the taste but none of the natural sugar needed to give energy to the body. Hence the heart rate is increased however there is no fuel backing it. You will be in danger of over exertion.

Notice how the 40% wording does not stand out - it is not clear at all

Good Fruit Juices

  • Pure Refresh - Acidity regulator and flavouring

CocaCola Scam Marketing to buy substandard “Less Sugar” Coke

This post is going to show how it is extremely difficult to see the difference between normal coke and the fake "Sucralose" Less Sugar Coke.

Previously fake sugar products suck as Diet Coke, Coke Zero or Herbal coke had been clearly marked by a distinctive logo and different colours.

These days Coke has lowered their standards and are trying to trick consumers into buying the fake Coke "Less Sugar" which has Sucralose - a flavourant instead of real good sugar the body can use.

The images are below:

As you can see the product looks exactly the same as normal coke - same colour and font. The only difference is the font size 18 less sugar at the bottom - which is very hard to see.

What I do to fake Coke

This is what I do to fake coca cola:

Message to coke and consumer protection - do not trick consumers

The complaint

I complained to both Consumer Protection and Cocacola South Africa via email. In both cases I merely received an autoresponder email back.

In Cocacola's case I was sent an email to call their Sharecall (not toll free) number. They do not even bother to call me:

cocacola south africa poor customer service

Just give me a call and refund me my R21.50

Spar Golden Cornflakes are Terrible

Just a post highlighting the terrible quality of Spar Golden Corn Flakes.

It looks good on the packaging but lurking beneath are unpopped corn kernels - ready to damage your teeth, cause potential choking or cause digestion issues.

The Spar Golden Corn Flakes product is sub standard. It clearly does not go through the quality control processes that we see from the likes of Kellogs.

Below is an image of the hard unpopped corn (non-flakes) that Spar Golden cornflakes contain.

There was a deal in the shop: R34 for 2 - no wonder.
Below another example of the dangerous corns in this poor quality product.

You can expect about 5 -10 unpopped corns and hard pieces per bowl of cereal.

Complaint Not Even Recognised

I complained on Sunday the 28th of February using Spar's Contact Us Form - they still have not even recognised the complaint.

All round it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth about the poor Quality of Spar House Brand products and the whole shop.
I will be avoiding Spar.
